our "kids"

ok, so a lot of my friends blog about their kids...this got me thinking about how I need to blog about our kids...our furry kids! Dan is 7 and Bella is 4.

Dan

Dan came with the package when I married Dean. He really is a pretty good dog...although when he gets excited...look out! No I mean seriously, look out. He is also a really great guard dog...as anyone who has been to our house will testify to. He is really protective of us, especially when it comes to men coming to our house...sorry guys! Although my friend Jill will tell you that he has tried to "bite her face off" (sorry Jill!) He really isn't so bad, he is very sensitive sometimes...and he really loves a great belly-rub, right Jon? Dan's favorite thing to do is hunt for rabbits in our backyard since he was forced into early retirement of his pheasant hunting career.

here is a shot of the "everyday Dan"

here is a picture of Dan & Dean from a few years ago from his hunting days

Bella
Bella is our 4 year old bichon...she is the sweetest little dog! I got her because I was thinking it would be great to have a dog to keep me company when Dean went hunting. After tons of searching online about different breeds...I decided on a bichon. They are very sweet in disposition, and they don't shed! We all fell in love with her right away! She is so entertaining, we are always saying how boring our lives would be without her. She has such a personality! She gets the "buzz" and goes crazy running around the house...and then just totally crashes. She is not afraid of anything and loves other animals. She is very curious about cats, rabbits, squirls, and even cows. She wasn't too sure of the horses this summer at my uncle's farm.

Even my grandma who is not the "indoor dog" type, just loves her! the other great thing about her is she is sooo small that it is a piece of cake to travel with her (which she LOVES!)

here is Bella at Kim's house, watching everyone getting the meal ready to eat.

Bella loves to be in on the action...so here is a shot of her when we were at my Grandma's house...she was keeping a close eye on mom & me while we were getting ready for church. Grandma thought it was soooooo funny how she was just sitting there watching us and her tail was draping into the sink...she couldn't stop laughing!

the dogs get along pretty well...like any "siblings" they get annoyed with each other, but they can be really sweet together...especially when they are causing trouble together! Like when Dan is "hunting" rabbits, and he gets Bella to go under the deck or shed to flush them out! What team work! Here is a shot of them together looking out the front window...aka Bella's lookout.

you win some, you loose some

today was more of you loose some kind of day...but hey, you can't win them all! so tonight is a cab & cookies night. (Cabernet and Reese's premade, throw them in the oven cookies) and tomorrow, back to the front lines of the battle against disease, self-neglect, and unfortunate accidents.

finally...a haircut!

I seriously, no I mean seriously had not gotten my hair cut in 11 months! I am not even joking...it was sooooo long overdue! So armed with my gift card to my favorite hairdresser, I got my hair cut...but because I am cheap I did not get my hair colored. This intrigued Tammy (my hairstylist). I always get highlights/low lights...so I am sure she was wondering why the heck I would wouldn't want to add a little color to this drab winter scenery. She asked me if there was any reason I wasn't getting color...I'm thinking, "it's because I'm cheap and I want to make my gift card last for 2 haircuts", but she is thinking, "she must be pregnant". so she politely fished for the answer to her suspicions...and I had to disappoint her by telling her I was just cheap :)
But in my defense...$49 for a haircut and eyebrow wax! Hello!

back to work

so you know how I was soooo bored yesterday? today, I would take boredom. I am sucking down coffee to try to wake up to head back to work. I work today, have a day off, then I work the weekend. (which means 6 am-7:35 pm usually) long days! plus, I am listening to the radio and she just told me that it is -31 below windchill! gross! oh well...btw, for those of you that don't know Amanda...I am on a campaign to get her to dress "north dakota". I am not asking her to adopt our silly accent (that Heidi says I have...I don't really think I do though). I am not even asking her to wear plaid...or anything like that. My hope is that my future sister will wear a coat, hat, and gloves/mittens consistently. at least she doesn't wear sandals like a girl I saw at the mall last week.
have a great day...hopefully it is warmer where you are!

a real blog for this chick

ok...I am going to try this blog thing, not related to business, but just for fun! (and to keep people up to date on my life)...btw, it has not been that exciting as of late. I have had the last week off of work and my house is pretty clean, which has been quite the undertaking! I am up to date on my share of tv watching, and I even matched up the "mis-matched" socks. (you know the ones that no matter how long you hang on to them, the day after they get tossed out, the other one shows up!) so now my collection of "singles" is smaller! yippie for small miracles!
ps...i suppose I should plug my photo website...http://kjmphotography.com(shameless I know)
